| This business was originally founded in 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia, by Karon Adams, as a home business. But as time went on, and the demand for soap products grew, more space was needed. Over the last 12 years, the space need caused 3 different moves. The most extensive one being the move to Chattanooga, Tennessee. But with the larger building came more opportunities...and responsibilities! Over the next couple of years and through two serious car accidents, it became difficult, and eventually impossible, for Karon to fulfill all of the responsibilities that Sugar Plum Sundries demanded.
In the mean time, a lady from Dunlap, TN. along with her daughter were reading up, and pepping up, to try soap making for the first time. This lady bought, via a supply catalog, all she needed to make soap. She also had found a book on soap making that only had recipes for soap (very large batches of soap - 20 lbs.). Quite a big beginning for a beginning soapmaker! After waiting 5 weeks for the backordered supplies, they arrived. Imagine her surprise when the contact info on the containers said that it was made in Chattanooga - about 30 minutes away! Of course the next step was to contact the local business and ask for tips on the first batch of soap. Karon kindly offered to host a private soap class at her shop for free for these two newbie soap makers - Ruth and Dianna Fleming. On the condition that they would start with a 1 pound batch! And from that moment on a friendship was formed.
But Karon was increasingly unable to care for and boost the business because of health issues. The thought of selling Sugar Plum Sundries came more often. Dianna was also at a crossroads in her life. The plan of selling Sugar Plum Sundries to her was presented. And, after a short time, was accepted.
July 16, 2004 brought the move of Dianna's Sugar Plum Sundries to Dunlap, Tennessee. Where it has been reconstructed, and expanded. Among some of the goals for 2010, are expanding the fixed oil and butters selections, adding soapmaking equipment to our product line, and carrying more essential oils for your perusal. We welcome any questions or comments on this business, its products, customer service, shipping, and website. Come order with us!
